I'm getting verklempt!

What DOESN'T get enough attention is the role of post-warm up core temp as a predictor of in-game fatigue.

When you look at studies on lactate levels (which is associated with fatigue):

- high core temp is the gasoline

- ANY amount of physical activity is the lighter

Translation: if you head into a game already hot, you will fatigue faster once you start playing.

Makes sense, right?

There is great evidence that suggests that pre-cooling before games/matches should be a cornerstone of your heat management strategy as an athlete playing sports in hot/humid conditions!
