Why are we just doing the same things and expecting different results?

Soccer teams keeping their subs in the locker room DURING a game due to the heat.. MLB players being helped off the field and puking between innings.. high school football players spending weeks in the hospital ICU after outdoor workouts-- these things really happened, all in the last TWO months!

Isn't it time we try something different that's been shown to work?

What are the objections?

- it's too much of a hassle: for the Narwhals, you just need to put the Cool-not-Cold bottles in the freezer beforehand, and each bottle lasts for two hours (and it comes with extra bottles!). Otherwise, set up will take less than 20 seconds... promise.

- don't have time in my routine: if you take water breaks, you have time to dump heat. Whenever you're drinking water, reach for a heat dumping device in your other hand. Just do it at every break.

- it will make my hand cold: you're not holding ice cubes. The surface temp of a heat dumping device is in the 50's, which is about the same as putting your hand on a granite countertop. And if you're still really worried, just use it in your non-dominant/non-throwing hand. Or realize that if you are overheated, a cool hand will warm up again quickly.

- it's too expensive: Narwhals are less than $400 for a pair. Although it works faster when holding one in each hand, you still get benefit with one. Split it with a friend, and you'll each have a powerful device for about $199.

Tennis is a perfect sport to use heat dumping. Players go at it hard for extended periods of time- often in hot environments- but also have built-in rest periods during changeovers.

We have the U.S. Open coming up.. high school and college sports have started practicing and ramping up to games soon.. the World Cup is coming up next year.. and the summer Olympics in two years.

Athletes and teams haven't figured out how to play effectively and safely in the heat, but the heat isn't going away any time soon. Aren't you fed up with this?
