Muscles produce their own energy to work. And when they work, they create heat.
The human body has evolved to stop muscles from producing energy once the temperature within the muscle gets too hot-- let's call that your fatigue heat threshold. It's a protective response; fatigue (and the inability to use muscles) is a strategy the human body uses to keep from cooking itself from the inside!
If your muscles kept producing energy and heat, an internal core temperature of 105 degrees becomes a medical emergency and 109 degrees usually causes death (to the person, not just the muscle)!
